With double features for mods and late models saturday night, we had a busy night! We loaded up both cars with Phil Bozell set to pilot the #80 back-up car, and it turned out to be a good idea! After the second round of hot laps the word came from the boss (Andy Bozell) that I needed to get in Precious and get some seat time as I would be racing his Late Model as well. With the Mod really good we parked it after the second hot lap session and concentrated on the late model. With late model qualifying up first I timed in 25th, not bad for a few laps in the car and used tires. Then we took the #84 out for mod qualifying and ended up tying for fast time at 13.641 with AJ Foote. One of these days i'm gonna finally get my first fast time! The first race of the night was the Late model Last chance race in which i started 10th and had to get to 6th, after avoiding a major wreck, and jsut making laps, with 5 to go, I made my move and started passing cars on the high side, and getting up to 5th and locking in the feature. So with out even taking my helmet off it was time to jump in the Mod for our first feature. It was a very eventful one to say the least, after avoiding wrecks almost every other lap. I ended up finishing 6th, with my team car in tow finishing 7th. So grab a quick drink of gatorade, and jump right into the late model where I was scheduled to start 21st. I rode around stayed out of trouble passed a few cars, and ended up finishing 13th. Finally I got a break for maybe 15 minutes and then we had our 2nd mod feature. After making some much needed changes, I figured we had a good chance starting 3rd with the inversion from the first feature. Phil got to start on the outside pole and took off and lead for a few, with Brent Hook beating off his back bumper to get around him. I just went to where they weren't, and passed them both in the matter of a lap on the high side. and lead from lap 11 all the way to the end for our first feature win of the year. Sorry Andy, the 84 car cant be a bridesmaid all the time. Then came the last late model feature, starting 13th i got up to the high groove and took offmoving up a few spots before I got caught behind somebody who had dropped an anchor and was going backwords, so all the way to the back I went. I finally pulled in on lap 25 or so figuring that Andy needed to race the same car at Spartan the next day and it would be better in one peice!
